It wasn’t hard to have a fabulous time on our Fiji + Fitness Retreat.
You really just need to turn up and hand yourself over to days filled with paddling on the turquoise waters on a SUP or a kayak, falling asleep into a book poolside, fab food, a waterfall adventure, sunsets, cocktails and just enough Fusion Fitness sessions to stretch the body and get the heart rate up at times.
Here’s a few of my top tips on what to pack to make your trip even more stress free and effortless.
Everything about Fiji was easy and stress free. Slipping into a ZIP UP RASHIE is quick and effortless. It feels so deluxe compared to squirming your way into a tight over the head piece.
It’s easy to lose track of time when paddling around turquoise waters with not a care in the world. Getting burnt to a crisp on day one can happen if you don’t cover up. Be sunsmart, or else you’ll be reaching for the aloe gel for the rest of your stay.
Jo and I were lucky to have deluxe rashies from Aquablu. Seriously, soft, gorgeous to wear. Gone are the days of ugly rashies!
I lived in my REEF SHOES, on the SUP, for a swim, walking on the beach and to the waterfall. The coral can be rough on your feet, giving you the best reason to book in for a pedicure on the last day.
A FLOATY DRESS instantly dials up the holiday vibe. Pack the one you can’t wear in the office.
Light weight, loose ACTIVE WEAR was perfect for a little Barre on the jetty, poolside Pilates, morning yoga and meditation or getting a little salty and sweaty in a circuit workout.
The fine line between sunkissed and sunburnt is easily crossed, especially in the tropics.
THE two hardest working products in my toiletries bag……
ZINC. Forget about gluggy surfer style zinc. The more you rub this gorgeous light weight ALL DAY ZINC in, the more it disappears. It’s like wearing a really light base with super sun protection powers. I used it every day without fail.
COCONUT OIL for deep conditioning of my hair in the salty, humid conditions, removing makeup and as a body moisturizer.

Our essentials for a sunset…. picnic basket filled with wine, glasses, delicious fusion Fiji/Indian style savoury snacks whipped up by our wonderful chefs and MOZZIE SPRAY. Be prepared to cover up and spray at least your ankles and feet as the mozzies do come out to play once the sun goes down. To avoid a clash of chemicals and cocktails, go for the toxin free versions.
Refilling my WATER BOTTLE with the famous Fiji Spring Water daily made sure I kept up my hydration. So important, especially when the day consists of tropical heat, active sessions and the odd cocktail. As our residence is ‘refill friendly’ I felt good knowing I did not contribute to the plastic water bottle waste problem.
One can never have too many SARONGS. They took me from beach or the pool to dining table. Worked as a wrap for early morning beach meditation and allowed me to be culturally cool by covering my shoulders in villages, especially in the company of the chief. And finally they protected me from the arctic freeze conditions on the plane.
Behind the scenes Jo and I were working to keep the retreat running smoothly, which can be challenging when life runs on ‘island time’, but we always found time to have some fun and to MAKE THE MOST OF EVERY MOMENT.
Fiji is an easy travel destination. English is spoken everywhere. Its friendly, safe and clean. No one is in a hurry or has any intention of complicating your life.
My advice…… leave the guilt at home. A holiday in Fiji really is all about YOU. It’s the place to let the stress go, stop being so busy and to rejuvenate from the inside out.
We loved it so much we’re going back….
