I love the blurry line between activewear, swimwear and chill out gear.
It kinda goes with the ‘no rules vibe’ on an active tropical holiday.
Swimshorts go from workout to swim.
Leggings or shorts work for travel, hiking, pilates.
A t-shirt rolls from stretch class to dinner.
Gals – toss in a sarong and a dress, and island life is complete.
A little mismatched is island style.
No judgement. Let it go.
Wear your glow at all times.
My top tips for our Sharing Timor-Leste trip:
#1 Swimshorts and rashguard style swimwear work best for sun protection and being respectful of local culture. The crystal clear turquoise waters and white sands beaches are a playground for us, but a place of work for the local community. Making a small effort to be at one with local life will be much appreciated and you’ll feel so much more at ease. Save your bikinis and one-pieces for resort life elsewhere. Check out Aqua Blu for gorgeous choices for guys and gals.
#2 Bring your well-worn activewear or stuff you don’t mind getting a little sweaty and salty. If you’re done with your worn-out t’s and shorts, can’t be bothered packing them in your bag to go home, you can always give them to local folks. They’ll be worn until they’re threads in your absence!
#3 Light weight quick drying fabrics are best in the tropics. Nothing really gets dry in the salty humidity.
#4 Be sun smart and culturally cool. Leave the skimpy gear at home. Short sleeve t’s or wide shoulder singlets protect you from the sun and are politer.
#5 Only bring comfortable worn-in sport shoes. Blisters are more likely in hot humid conditions.
On a very practical note… this is my activewear stash for 6 days/5 nights of fun, fitness and adventure in Timor-Leste:
- 1 x long sleeve rashie
- 1 x short sleeve rashie
- 2 x swim shorts or workout shorts
- 2 crop/bra tops to wear under singlets and rashies
- 1 x ¾ leggings
- 2 x short sleeve t-shirts
- 2 x wide shoulder singlets
- 4 x sport anklets
* Jo Sharp and I are very grateful to Aqua Blu for supplying our deluxe, sporty and gorgeous rashies and swim shorts. They score 4 beautiful gold hearts.
