It’s the little things that make a difference
Yesterday I was given a great big handful of the most heavenly fragrant cempaka flowers and it made my day. In fact, transformed my day from ok to thoughts of ‘I’m the luckiest gal on the planet right now’.
It’s not just about the flowers, it’s about the moment of thoughtfulness.
Instead of sweeping the flowers away amongst the debris of the trees they were cutting back in the car park, the boys were thoughtful enough to pick each one up and bring them to me. No bowl, no water, just a handful of flowers dropped on to the table next to my laptop.
This wonderful treat took just a minute or two of their time.
Behind the scenes at Sharing Bali we loved creating treats for our guests. Some we planned, some just seem to happen. Flowers scattered on the path, a hot thermos of fragrant ginger tea, guzzling fresh sweet coconut water from a banana leaf, dinner by candlelight, hanging on a swing with a friend with no care for time, or a delish chocolate treat when least expected…. and so much more.
Every treat we created was appreciated, our guests don’t hold back with their delight, making everyone feel good about the moment.
We live in a world where we can google every scenario, and review every past event, leaving very little room for surprise and delight. Especially on our travels. Most retreats and hotels list their treats as bonuses. I deliberately left our treats off the itinerary.
Because the most joy happens when treats are unexpected.
So this is my treat to you…. a book full of recipes, pics, ideas to help you recreate those treats enjoyed at Sharing Bali. (Yes, the famous banana pancake recipe is included).
Expect nothing. Appreciate everything.
