It’s been a while since my last wrap. I have a good excuse. Life took me to The French Alps for a break.
So I’m back in Bali, Cantik is by my side, and I’ve been out on a few adventures.
Cantik and I scooted around Bali in a side car. It was not only too much fun, it felt good knowing the tour helps fund a foundation owned and run by people with a disability. Cantik laps up the attention as we cruise through villages. And I get a lesson about personal courage from Ayu, one of the foundation members. Your heart will soar on the Happy Hearts Tour.
As a clean living hub, shots in Ubud are more likely be thrown back at a Tonic Bar. Kick start the day with a fresh jamu shot at Jamu Sehati. I’m in love with the Balance brew served hot. Ginger, turmeric, galangal, lemongrass, pandan, pepper, cinnamon, cloves, lime, coconut sugar, alkaline water.
You’ll find this tiny kiosk perched on the corner of Jalan Sandat and the main road, a 5 minute walk from the market.
I spent a day at the Pemulan Organic Farm Cooking School, whipping up a feast in the company of 15 travelers from around the world, all keen to up their cooking skills in authentic Balinese style. We foraged for produce, chopped and cooked like master chefs and enjoyed good food and conversation around the communal dining table set amongst the gardens. There’s a wonderful ethos behind this farmers co-operative, so feel good about spending your time and money here. Full story and deets here.
Everyone’s talking about the The Pyramids of Chi. A stone’s throw from the hum of Ubud, it is an oasis of calm, with a dose of mystery and intrigue on the side. A place where you should expect the unexpected. Experience a Sound Healing, graze your way through the café menu, wander the gardens, read a book, have a nap, play with the dogs, chill with friends, meet new people, soak up the energy. This is how my experience unfolded…
Here’s one for the Coffee Connoisseurs.
Tucked away in Jalan Sri Wedari is Seniman Coffee. A thriving hub for all things coffee….. café, bar, roastery, barista courses and workshops.
And finally… anyone who follows my feed will know I’ve become obsessed with e-bikes. They’ve opened up a whole new world of fun and adventure for me. As I cruise along village roads powered by an e-bike, with stunning rice field views wherever I look, I’m finding it hard to wipe the smile off my face. This is pedaling without the pain on a tour that takes you to a part of Bali most of us are yet to explore. Try it for yourself. My story here.
